This training session for elementary school (K – 5) SECME coordinators provided participants with mathematics and science content, instructional strategies and activities for the classroom, competition overview, and program implementation.
Ms. Elizabeth Travieso, Curriculum Support Specialist and Dr. Roger Blanco, Curriculum Support Specialist, Division of Mathematics and Science Education, welcomed the thirty participating teachers, provided them with an overview of the SECME District Program, Upcoming Events and School Data for the 2004-05 school year, and engaged them in a series of “outdoors” mathematics activities.
Mr. Brad Nunn, Senior Program Manager, Citrix Systems Inc. engaged participants in the building of their first Rubber Band Vehicle. (Please visit our website at www.mathscience.dadeschools.net/secme to view his presentation)
Participants were also "treated" to a tour of the Miami Museum of Science.
